Getting a job in the Indian Army and serving the country is a matter of pride.

The job opportunity is given by the army to the youth from the age of 17.5 years to 34 years. For this, various entry options have been set by the recruiting army. So let's know about all the options for getting a job in the Indian Army.

There is a desire in every youth to work in the Indian Army, the largest among the armed forces of India because working in it is not just a job but a matter of honor and pride.  There is a chance to serve the country along with getting prestige, great career, good lifestyle, great compensation and facilities and so forth.

This is the reason why it is the dream of almost every youth that he can get a job in this organization established on 1st April 1895 i.e. 125 years old. To get a job in the Indian Army, youth can apply according to the various recruitment process groups to be conducted by the army and if selected can contribute to the service of the country.

Entry as a soldier through Army Recruitment Rally

Army Recruitment Rally or Army Recruitment Rally is organized for recruitment as a soldier or soldier for general duty in various trades in the Indian Army. Recruitment rally is organized by the army at various places at different bases across the country. Candidates can check Army Recruitment Rally Schedule by visiting Army Recruitment Portal, joinindianarmy.nic.in. 8th/10th/12th/ITI has been prescribed for constable posts to be filled through recruitment rally and age limit should be from 17.5 years to 23 years.

Direct recruitment in the army as Havildar and Naib Subedar

Indian Army recruits from time to time for the posts of Surveyor Auto Carto (Engineer) on the rank of Havildar. Candidates between the age group of 20 years to 25 years can apply for these posts with 10+2 with Mathematics and Science subjects and then BA/BSc passed.

Similarly, Army also recruits Havildar (Education) for which candidates having MA/MSc/MCA or BA/BSc/BCA with B.Ed in Group X and BSc/BA/BCA (IT) for Group Y. Candidates without B.Ed can apply.

At the same time, the recruitment of Cantering JCO (ASC) and Religious Teacher (JCO) is also done by the army on the rank of Naib Subedar. For  JCO (ASC) posts, youth of 21 to 27 years with 10+2 Diploma in Hotel Management and Catering Technology can apply. At the same time, for the posts of  JCO, youth in the age group of 27 years to 34 years with graduation and degree related to their religion are eligible to apply.

Candidates should note that candidates selected by direct recruits as Sepoy, Havildar and Naib Subedar may rise to the rank of Subedar Major by promotion in the service. For ranks above that, different recruitment procedures are followed by the Army. Let's know:-

Recruited as lieutenant in the army

For the ranks above the rank of Subedar Major in the Indian Army, recruitment is made to the rank of Lieutenant. Armed force has given numerous section choices for enlistment on lieutenant,these incorporate NCC Special, SSC, IMA, 10+2 Technical, NDA, JAG, TGC, UES, TGC (Education). A candidate recruited to the rank of lieutenant from any of the entry options has an opportunity to rise to the rank of general in the army while in service. Let us know about the eligibility criteria prescribed for various entry options on the rank of lieutenant:-

NCC Special (Male & Female): Youth in the age group of 19 years to 25 years having NCC certificate in A or B grade with minimum 50% marks from any recognized university.

Short Service Commission (Technical – Male & Female): Youth in the age group of 19 to 27 years having BE or B.Tech or B.Arch or MSc Computer degree in Engineering can apply.

Short Service Commission (Non-Technical): Candidates in the age group of 19 to 25 years having passed Graduation Degree in any discipline from a recognized University or Institute can apply.

Indian Military Academy (Non-Technical): Direct recruitment is also done in IMA for non-technical posts for which candidates between 19 to 24 years with a bachelor's degree are eligible to apply.

10+2 Technical (TES): Indian Army conducts technical recruitment (Technical Entry Scheme) for 10+2 passed youth with minimum 70% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Maths. The age limit for this is 16.5 years to 19.5 years.

NDA Recruitment: An option for recruitment to the rank of lieutenant in the Indian Army is the National Defense Academy (NDA) exam conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), which is led double a year by the commission . To appear in this exam, candidates must have passed 10+2 with science as subject.

JAG (Men & Women): JAG (Men & Women) recruitment process is conducted for entry into the Legal Corps in the Indian Army for which LLB passed with minimum 55% marks and passed from Bar Council of India or Bar Council of various states. Enlisted youth can appear. The minimum age limit for this recruitment is 21 years and maximum is 27 years.

TGC: Another recruitment process – Technical Graduate Course is organized by the Army for recruitment in Technical Corps. The minimum qualification prescribed for this is BE or BTech or BArch or MSc Computer in Engineering. Also, the age of the participant ought to be between 19 to 27 years 

UES: Youth studying in the years prior to final year in Engineering degree course are eligible to apply for UES Recruitment in Army. Also,the age of the contender for UES ought to be between 19 to 24 years 

TGC (Education): The TGC (Education) process is conducted by the Army for recruitment to the senior ranks in the Education Corps of the Army. For this, youth from 23 years to 27 years who have passed MA or MSc degree in first or second class can apply.

CDS: Like NDA, Combined Defense Services (CDS) exam conducted by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is also an option. To appear in this exam, graduation is necessary .Also,the age of the up-and-comer ought to be between 20 years to 24 years.
